How to do something new with something old ? Navionics knows it ! After publishing geographic areas including a navigation application, here is now an application, but without cartography. These Italians are too strong !
Navionics Boating completes, since January 2014, la collection d’applications Marine (smartphone) et Marine HD (tablets). Also available in standard version for smartphones and HD for tablets (7″ et +), Navionics Boating has version number 3.0.0 while the others have the number 2.9.8. Navionics précise, on the dedicated page from its website, that Navionics “Boating” does not replace Navionics “Marine” which will continue to be kept up to date. However, it is permissible to ask for how long, because this new application has a very unpleasant surprise in store.
If you purchased Navionics Europe HD, in example, don't plan to get your cards back, you will have to purchase the new cards specific to this new application again.
Avec « Boating », Navionics aligns with its competitors with a free application allowing the acquisition of several geographic zones, which is much more convenient than having to close one application and open another when the road crosses two map areas. So that’s a good thing in itself..
Channel sailors will be happy to find the South coast of England and the Channel Islands with the “Central” map. & West Europe », but the offshore islands, Canaries, Madeira, Azores, are absent. A truncated Gold 46XG, somehow, but to 50 € the zone, you have to put 100 € to cover the equivalent of the Gold 46XG (70$ or approximately 52 € on the site x-traverse.com). There is really something to confuse customers !
Navionics therefore suggests installing a new application allowing you to use several maps continuously.. Perhaps an excellent method for reviving sales that are running out of steam ? If only the editor had taken the opportunity to add, Finally, the options available under iOS (NavModule, Autorouting, or even Lost Cards (¹)) this could have been acceptable. But no, still not !
Nothing is ever acquired, and it would be good not to transform the million copies sold on all media, claimed by Navionics last year, in a million unhappy customers. Because I predict that the “Marine” and “Marine HD” applications will not benefit from a long life..

(¹) Update : The optional module Lost Cards (Advanced Map) was added with the release 3.1 of 20 FEBRUARY.

Bonjour,
I'm planning a tour of the British Isles (Ireland – Scotland).
I have an old Panasonic CF 29 hardened with open cpn which remains on the chart table I was considering purchasing a duplicate portable GPS but a comparative article from Voiles Magazine recommends the smartphone.
I understand that the iPhone is a 1st choice, However I find the price too high, in addition it is not waterproof and I would opt for the Crosscall Element which has a 4.5 screen″. To put it simply, is there a program compatible with CROSCALL and covering the navigation sector.
The goal is simply to see the boat evolve on a reliable map, or even have AIS in the fog (si possible)
NB : avoid if possible the esoteric language of initiates of which I am unfortunately not a part
As I mentioned in a previous post, There is, still to this day, a real lack of navigation applications on Android. Only Navionics can meet your needs. The cartography for the British Isles is of high quality, but the application is more than basic. It is still the equivalent of the Navionivs Viewer which appeared at the beginning of the iPhone in 2008.
Bonjour,
Wishing to go to Madeira and the Azores from Hendaye this year and planning to acquire a Samsung Android tablet to serve as a troubleshooting tracker in the event of a crash of my Geonav 10C which has now 7 years I cannot clearly distinguish the coverage areas of iNavX maps for Android with regard to the western limits in a single map, if I need two how will I be able to use them ? They will follow one another on the tablet screen?
Cars
You are confusing : iNavX is an application that only works on iOS (iPad/iPhone). L’application pour Android est Navionics Boating, which allows you to buy two cards, one for Western Europe and another for the Atlantic islands (Canary Islands/Madeira/Azores). These two cards will be continuously linked together.
